If you’re reaching for your big juicy business goal and yet somehow falling short, spend a moment asking what how you really feel inside. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of maintaining the appearance of being a vibrant high flying entrepreneur, but if your inner critic is poking at you telling you you’re a ‘fake’ or grasping for something out of your reach then it’s going to slow you down big time.
Four years ago when I first launched my coaching business I found myself questioning whether I was doing the right thing. Could I really support women in a meaningful way? The results have spoken loud and clear for themselves, but my inner critic dimmed my light for longer than I care to remember.
If you’re going through it now here’s what I recommend as a starter:
1) Notice when the irritating voice kicks in
2) Retrace your steps to find out what you were doing just before you heard it. What triggered it?
3) Write down what it said or is saying
4) Ask yourself is there any truth to what it’s saying?
There’s no need to wade into a war. This is just one simple way to shine light on the lies that we tell ourselves. Reality is that the inner critic is fear. It’s what keeps us small and prevents us making the quantum leaps we say we want. Just knowing ‘oh that’s fear’ will not always get you past it; support, insight and transformation will.
Having been through it and transformed my thinking I can help you to do the same so you confidently bring in more clients and live the life you dream of.
